Hello everyone,
Today, where I live in NZ, is the 1st of December and I'm card making done...present shopping, done, present wrapping done, food in freezer, done, tree decorated, not done, don't have a tree, but my fake fig tree has pretty lights on it and I will spend the rest of today decorating my table that no one sits at, with ornaments I saved, gnomes and red table cloth, candles and other such things and it be pretty for Christmas...I go prep and cook and eat at my daughters again this year and all will be well..
Another card box, this time for my friend who has dementia and does not know it..she rings me and leaves the funniest messages as sometimes I just cannot talk to her, other days I take her out and we have a good time but she never remembers it, and I'm so surprised she is still living alone at her home without care or home help just a son who pops in when he can..and as they say, there is no room at the inn, so there is no place available to take her.so we all do our best.
this is gorgeous Chrissy...........gr karin
ReplyDeleteI love the cool colours for the festive, frosty look. Beautiful cards Chrissy.
ReplyDeleteHate to hear about your friend with that awful illness, its so wicked. I hope she can continue to cope at home for as long as possible. xx
Ok Chrissy- stop showing off!!! You are amazingly well organised this year, everything done and ready, you can just sit back now and enjoy the run up to Christmas...I wish I was, so much still to do...
ReplyDeleteSo sad to read about your friend Aileen, things are no better here with so many people struggling to cope without the support they need to keep them safe. At least she has her son and a good friend in you. The card/box you made for her is absolutely stunning and I'm sure she will be thrilled with it.
xx
Your friend will enjoy this Chrissy for sure, many times!! My father-in-law had it, my brother-in-law has it now too. It's an awful disease and we have a lot to be thankful for. I hope your friend stays safe with the help of you and her son.
ReplyDeleteTwo absolutely stunning cards Chrissy. Love the designs and all those pretty die cuts.

Absolutely fabulous card and box, love the beautiful dies, your friend will love it. Such a shame it is a terrible disease, as you know John had it and my Mam had it too!

Oh that's so sad about your friend. Hopefully she will love the colors on this as do I, so soft and pretty. I'm glad you are decorating anyway...for YOU! XOX
ReplyDeleteWOW!! Your deer card and matching box set are absolutely stunning as usual my friend! Your friend will love it for sure! You're always so good at the details! My husband is in the EXACT same boat as your friend with his mom at current. He stops by when he can, but he's talked to so many people and there's nothing we can do other than what we're doing unless she gets worse in some way. It's really sort of scary at times. I wish there was more to do for those people. Sending hugs to you and your friend.
ReplyDeleteIt must be nice to be all set for Christmas already, sorry to hear about your friend, my brother passed away from Dementia this year and it is hard to see them falling away and not remembering. You have made her a beautiful card, I love the details in that deer, I like how you used the wood slices with it and your flowers are shaped so pretty!
ReplyDeleteGet you all organised for Christmas!! I am getting there, gifts are mostly complete, the house is decorated and we've been enjoying the ope fire thee last few days that have been chilly. It sounds like your care system is very much like ours Chrissy, especially where elderly care is concerned. Aileen is very lucky to have such a wonderfu friend as you and I am sure she will love her card xx
ReplyDeleteYour card box is such a lovely gift. I'm sure Aileen will enjoy it. It sounds like you are ahead of the holiday schedule. I'm not even trying this year. My stuff is all stored and I have no idea where it is. Next year I hope to make up for it. Thank you for helping your friend.
