BEFORE AND AFTER..

Hello everyone..

This is a HUGE post, sorry, but there is quite a few photos and thought you might like a step by step in the process of altering a canvas for something to do...this style is not everyones cup of tea, but I had a wonderful time doing it..and it also used up heaps of stash..

Lets go..Before and After..

Cute little canvas, was a DT project a few years ago and then just sat in the cupboard..and now it is not..and no little Dinosaurs were harmed in the altering process..just hidden.

As I started this alteration I had to try and remove those stones and boy oh boy were they stuck on there...

After the first coat of black paint amazingly enough those stones basically fell off..

Then the whole scene was covered in  newpapers..

Added some doilys..

Then into a huge box of stuff, flowers chipboard badges and started layering it all up..

This wonderful box full of stuff came in a blog candy win I had from Lisa Perento..

So I made sure I used plenty of it up, even adding resim frames for more dimension..

I sprinkled Nuvo Shimmer powders on the wet paint and sprayed some water on it, it was alright, but not a lot happened really..

It sort of went a bit dirty looking and soggy..

So I mixed the Shimmer powder with water in a spritz bottle...and spritzed..and now I could see it clear and bright..

So I add Blue Shimmer powder in the water and spritzed..

Then mixed blue and pink and we got...???

As it dries it does tone down a bit and looked even better...more shimmery..

I just  kept spraying, drying, spraying some more..

Then I use my fingers and Nuvo Moose in gold and rubbed the raised embellishments..

Addedm icro beds as well and rubbed more gold on to everything...

The butterfly was a sticker from my stash and worked perfectly colour wise..

A close up of one side...

A close up of the chip board lamp post and the other side....

And there we have it all finished..

I think it is lovely and it now on my hallway wall...

Thanks so much for stopping by, hope you made it to the end and enjoyed my altering canvas.

Oh my word Chrissy this turned out so cool!!! I love going through my stash of "whatevers" and coming up with things like this! Brilliantly done and the colors you've achieved over the black paint looks amazing!! I haven't done something like this in quite a while, but I've been doing different things from behind the scenes hopefully coming soon! :) Thanks for sharing your process! I love seeing that!!

This is a magnificent "redo" Chrissy. I love the rich colours and the beautiful metallic highlights the textured and raised areas perfectly. I have wondered how to do such a canvas and now I know!! xx

OMG I was taken back by this and I am sooo glad that you were able to put all those pieces to use. And if you ever have anyone break into your place you can hit them over the head with this and knock them out!!! My gosh you have rocks and harden embellishments this is stunning and protection, lol.

What a transformation. Your original design was sweet and beautifully made, but now it’s turned into a groovy, dramatic and grown up design that would look amazing on my shelf in the bedroom.
