PILLOWCASES CARDBOARD BOOK..


Hello everyone..

Brr..woke up to out first frost this morning, not too bad though, and as I didn't have to go out in it who cares right..I just sipped my coffee and looked out the window at the pretty white stuff and muttered..Welcome Winter..

So onto todays project, another mixed media piece using the cardboard that your pillow cases come wrapped in and then they are placed perfectly in those plastic envelope pouch things.....and never to be returned back into them after you removed them.

So here we go...



So I started with the cardboard pillow case insert..it already had those score lines down them so that saved me effort..


Painted it white and added the alphabets letters and flowers,buttons, butterflies an any other nick knack I could find..


Then covered the whole book with white paint..


Then black paint...every inch of it...


Out came the sprays...my new Kaiserkraft sprays, which are now my favourite..


Orange, red, gold and dark green...


Oh, I love to do this, to watch the colours peek through all that black, when in fact they are just sitting on top..


The papers flowers and leaves etc take on the look of metal..


I folded plenty of sheets of printer paper, trimming and gluing every single sheet individually to make the pad inside..and treated the top with gold lace out of my stash...


There's looking down onto the book..


And I finally added sequins in gold and antique bronze, all done..

    Chrissy that is awesome....I thought it was a journal that you were going to keep on your pillow and write stuff before bed, lol. You are such a tease!!!! You are having too much fun re-doing pieces and making them your own. Stay warm.

    Great idea Chrissy, never thought of this and its made a fab book, clever lady, the detail is fabulous.

    Oh that wonderful feeling when you are newly retired and realise that you don't have to go out for a work on a cold winter morning, you can sit indoors -in the warm- and take your time drinking your coffee! It's the little things :))
    I'm lost for words over your gorgeous notebook and more than a little envious of your talent for making something so gorgeous from something that most people would just put in the re-cycling bin!

    I actually started on making something like this today. But the black paint has dried up. Started with white, but gave up as I couldn’t get my mind around on how to put together all the things. So I’ve put it away for another day/month/year. It’s very inspiring to see how your project evolves and end up looking amazing.
