PLACEMATS..STEAMPUNK INDUSTRIAL..

 Hello everyone,

What a gorgeous day today for Mothers Day here in NZ..I was picked up at nine and taken to a club for breakfast, eggs 5 different ways [ I gave it my best shot there], bacon, sausages, beans, toast and all that good unhealthy stuff and I LOVED every mouth full..now I'm at home home feeling rather bloated, but, hey, it was worth it..

So this project has been sitting in draft for ages, it is a long post with quite a lot of pictures, it was a project I made for my Son as his kitchen is industrial steampunk!??

It all started with my Son 's new kitchen and his girlfriend asking if I could make placemats in Steampunk/Industrial..well, as a crafter I just said yes,of course..then thought about it after I said it..

but I did have these old placemats in my cupboard and very rarely used..so they were perfect...

I also had these wonderful papers that I had not touched except for a few strips and they were 12x12, the perfect size, and theme..Stamperia - Seaworld

My favourite...

There they all are....

2 types of papers here as one had been cut and not big enough...

both sides were paper pieced on the edges...

Die cut cogs and rusted them up with water paint..

This is the box lid...

Getting cogs and twine ready...

Added the center piece and waited for bubbles to settle down..

On all four corners of the box lid I added real bolts and glued onto cogs...

Lids is all done, bubbles on next layer still settling down down...

All dry now and flat...

All done...

They were all sealed with matt medium glue which makes them pretty strong but I have mentioned to the kids don't go putting red hot pots on them, they are really just for the dinner plates..

So there we go, thank you so much for stopping by, I will see you tomorrow..

Luv CHRISSYxx
