Hello everyone,
I have a little notebook to share with you today and a " What Not To Do Moment"..
At my local Supermarket, back to school was going on a few weeks ago
and these notebooks were flying out the door for50cents..
So, what was I to do..I bought a bunch..
Wrapped the first one in brown paper like my school days.
Then using one 6x6 paper pad, I covered and decorated the whole book..
by mainly tearing the papers for the inside covers..
on the actual pages I fussy cut around the flowers a little bit
and glued one page on each page..
Until the book pages each had a pretty edging..
Scraps were saved to cover at food pouches..
My hands were getting pretty stiff by now..
But I loved the thickness of them all..
and that is when it all turned to CUSTARD!!!
I started inking, why, oh why did I think the new TH scorched timber would be perfect..
it wasn't, it was too dark, but did I stop, no, like a twit I kept going..I'll get to that again shortly..
A parcel arrived and I had found these frames on Temu, oredered them,
so had to stop and sot them out.
Picking frames for my ladies and the front cover..
They are so lovely, thin, not thick paper, but easy enough to play with..
UGH..that brown is awful.
Started adding frames inside to help tone the brown..
The in came the water and paper towels..
Then started making pockets, which I was not going to do..
lace and burlap ribbon from my stash came in handy..
pockets and tags and little ephemeras for decoration..
I made a bunch of those for quick things and still have some in my stash..
Inking does not look too bad here..
I actually sprayed the pages with water then wiped off as much ink as I could.
some worked some didn't..
Lovely frilly lace on the front..
decorated the worst of the pages with more papers and fussy cut roses..bits
of old book pages glue in, now the thing was getting thicker and thicker which was not my intention in the beginning..
This is as best as they got..
Never mind, it is still pretty...and thick,
and tied with a ribbon and some keys as dangles.
and there she is,,
Thank you so much for stopping by..
I'll see you tomorrow..

What a result Chrissy! No one would guess that your gorgeous shabby chic/vintage journal was created from a humble notebook. It's so pretty with those lovely papers and the lace- your frames are perfect with the ladies' portraits. xx
I do admire your inking, tearing and pasting, you get such beautiful results. Love those frames too, with the lovely images and flowers. x
These look like they were fun to do! Love that you were able to use one sheet of the papers to cover it and the Vintage pieces and frames look beautiful with this design! I love the details you've put into this!
What a great idea Chrissy I never thought of decorating little note books before I love the papers you have used for the front and inside it is lovely to see those little pouches come out they work well in the book I agree that the ink looks a little dark but you obviously worked at putting that right the frames, the lace and the key charms are the perfect finishing touch another top notch work of art

Well, it still looks plenty nice and useable.
Learning Experience!
Practice Time!
We've all had 'em, and most throw in trash.
But you salvaged it so win-win!

OH MY STARS! These are just amazing and absolutely beautiful!!!
On a different note: Can you email me at akadafney@yahoo.com ... I have some sad news in regards to one of your past team mates at Little Red Wagon. Not sure you ladies are aware and wanted to let someone know. Thanks in advance. (I sent an email but not sure it was to the correct Chrissy)
Chrissy! This is beautiful! I LOVE chunky journals, they just feel so good in your hand and once again, your creative genius amazes me
It may be that I am not seeing it in person but I didn't mind that color for the inking, I still haven't bought it myself but have it on my wish list :) Those papers are just gorgeous to decorate it and I love the new frames you purchased, perfect photo to go in it to go with the pretty lace!
