Hello everyone,
It's LITTLE RED WAGON time, Wednesday is here again, is it just me, or are the weeks going faster, definitely going faster I think..
So, JanR is our lovely hostess this week and her theme is,...Captains Log - woodgrain, trees, etc
I went with woodgrain, but made my woodgrain panel myself with masking tape..
one sheet of A4 cardstock and a roll of masking tape..
This is so easy, no skill required, the messier you do it the better it comes out, trust me.
start adding strips, crinkle them, not smooth,
if one goes smooth, just stick another on top.
Keep going..until you panel is wide enough to play with..
then we coat with glue, watery glue and ley dry..
Time to choose paints, hopefully not all dried like most of mine..
Move the cat..
oh, she just turned around and tried to squeeze back in, nearly made it..
Back to the panel and first coat of ochre.
Then red brown..
darker brown..
leaving bits of ochre and red brown showing.
then a soft light coat of black, just to fill light gaps.
done..
The anchor die cut and getting some colour..
added it onto burlap netting stuff.
and moss, you cannot forget the moss.
so,, panel is totally dry and trimmed to size..
Now we need hot glue, its the easiest way..to
glue the anchor and bits on..
But I need a bigger panel, layered for someone's wall..
and to save card stock I have saved all these strips and going to add them on.
to make the illusion the panel is wider than it is..
Then some shells and more moss in the corners.
this moss is like string or threads,
very tight together and you pull it to make it spread, very cool stuff.
I decide on metal lacy corners embellishments on the opposite corners as the shells..
and done..
A plaque made of paper and tape..
So do come and join in with us HERE
thank you so much for stopping by..
I'll see you soon..
Luv CHRISSYxx

A wonderful project Chrissy, love all the die cuts and the wood grain panel looks amazing- so realistic. xx
Stunning plaque, Chrissy. Love the way you have put it together!
Wow, this is such an amazing piece so full of texture! Absolutely love the way you've done the masking tape with the painting to make it look like the wood! Very clever and cool project my friend! Looks like Holly was very cozy! LOL
that looks fantastic Chrissy, great job with the background.........gr karin
As always, so impressed with your creativity, Chrissy. This is an awesome project and to see all your steps and how you arrived at the final product is very impressive indeed. Just gorgeous!
WOW, Chrissy! Thanks for the tutorial. What a beautiful panel. It is going to look great on a wall.
That is too cool, of course this is the first time I have seen faux wood made that way, gives it quite the dimension for sure, and seeing the project done that anchor is much bigger than I thought it was, I do love the netting behind it. So love the touch of the moss and shells in the corners and those metal corners are some pretty cool shapes and dimension to really top the project off nicely!
Wowzers, Michael deMeng would be proud (he's the Ah-sem-blaaaaaj King, King of Assemblage)! Fabulously textural and dimensional! xoxo

Great card, Chrissy! Love how you made the "wood"!
Oh wow - this is inspired - what a fabulous way of creating your 'wood' - I'm definitely going to have a go at that . Love seeing your creative process and oh that cat - isn't she a beauty. Thanks for sharing with us at Creative Artiste Mixed Media - hope to see you again next month.
You are so creative, Chrissy - how you´ve made the wood and all the details on your project. I am always impressed how many parts are on your projects.

Yikes you are amazing woman. So much texture to your wood. I wouldn't know where to start. Another impressive project Chrissy.

Wow, such a terrific masterclass Chrissy and a stunning piece to hang on the wall. Lovely Holly does make me smile and reminds me of the poem by Eleanor Farjeon- Cats sleep, anywhere, Any table, any chair Top of piano, window-ledge, In the middle, on the edge, Open drawer, empty shoe, Anybody's lap will do. xx
Amazing creation, thank you for the step by step on the woodgrain, it has such amazing texture. I also have to craft around a cat at times:-) Thank you for joining us at Creative artiste mixed media this month
