A COLD WINTER POST WITH TEMPS TO MATCH..

Hello Everyone....

Still blowing and icy blow here today but the sun is out...just no warmth in it as you cannot find anywhere to hide from the wind..

So I guess my afternoon will be spent in my craft space and try to put something together as my mojo has wandered off...

He was here the day I made this canvas though..well, I think he was....

.

I used this sweet Mo Manning image" Winter Fairy Manty"...coloured him with pencils...glossed up his wings and fussy cut him out to put on my canvas....

The background was made with water colour paints and water...lots of water..and it all ran down just where I wanted it...I had already  masked off my moon...and cut loads of fern leaves using black cardstock and baking paper...[too soft and pretty to throw away]..

The tiny pine cones are not really pine cones, but they are off a tree [cannot remember the name of it]...and I found heaps down at the reserve when walking the dog..don't know what the dog was doing I was too busy picking up there authentic looking pine cones...they had a treatment of gesso for snow and I love them

Loads of sparkly glitter snow along the bottom and then splatterings of gesso all over....

Yes, I fussy cut those pine tree branches he is carrying...sheez..took along time, but I find fussy cutting more relaxing than colouring....takes all sorts doesn't it.

Wow, Chrissy, your background is amazing! Love the scene you've created. We're experiencing similar weather to you here in SW Scotland - the only difference is that it's meant to be our summer! Hugs xx

Holy cow Chrissy, this is amazing! I LOVE that background, the drips that the water created have so much dimension, almost like crevices in ice! Your pine branches look so real, I had to zoom right in on them for a better looksie! Stunning!! hugs :)

Chrissy! You're killing the mixed media thing....and I mean that in a VERY positive way. The chill of the colors and background depict winter, but that precious cutie adds the perfect bit of warmth. I absolutely love your canvas here!
Big hugs to you.
Hope you dodge the wind successfully and your mojo finds its way home.
hugs,

Beautiful background! Love the way you let the paint just do it's own thing. I can't even image how long it took to fussy cut all the branches! A beautiful canvas!

Simply wonderful - I think my favourite of the three posts I've caught up with... You've captured the atmosphere of a frosty forest glade just perfectly - I can practically hear the crunch of the snow underfoot. Love the misty look of the snow on the boughs and that fabulous dribbled night sky, with the splattered stars gleaming through the forest. And one of Mo's images at the heart of it... I'm blown away!
